In 2015 we linked up with a group from Kent who work closely with a charity in Uganda, East Africa called World Shine Ministries. The charity founded a Primary School in 2008 in Rwentobo, a rural village in the South East of the country. The Primary school provides excellent teaching and values for the local children and facilities and training for the wider community.
The school now has over 600 pupils from age 3 upwards and with help from the charities supporters, in the last few years has been able to build a new vocational block with sewing and IT rooms, new staff room, new kitchen, main hall, a safe playground for the children, and work is in progress for a new clinic to serve the school and community.
In conjunction with The Our World Project, we also partnered with the founder of a link charity, Farsight, to present education on mental health awareness. This is a difficult topic on which our Western understanding opposes the traditional spirituality of the African culture. The education is presented with testimony alongside the Our World XVII: Shadows play and is designed to open minds and uncover questions from within the community, and teach people to embrace those who need support.
