Reviews

"An amazing online performance - thank you so much for sharing your Lockdown with us. Great music, timing and storytelling- schools will love it. I hope it’s not long before you can take it on tour."

"Fantastic performance - thank you."

"This performance demonstrated to me that if you are a performer, how strong the desire is to continue reaching out to others through your work even when faced with great adversity, as we all are at the minute. Never give up!"

"I thought all involved were very professional and the performance was brilliant - all involved overcame the inevitable challenges of doing a performance live on zoom and the show went flawlessly."

"All have been affected differently and to different extremes however the emotions we feel will be the same and this was reflected well in the performance. It is comforting and uplifting to know that we are not alone in this experience."

In this hour long dance production, the audience is taken on a journey through 2020, examining the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our every day lives. The performance is split into 3 sections, each lasting around 10-15 minutes with a brief explanation from the choreographer between each section and an opportunity for Q&A.

Part 1: Strange Uncertainty - the opening section of the production is a first look at how we were forced to adapt to life in lockdown. Developed between March-June 2020, the dancers explore their home surroundings and the emotional and psychological experience of being trapped at home.

Part 2: Escape - Focusing on the 'escape' period between July-Sept, the dancers work through anxiety and trepidation as the announcement came that we would once again be allowed to meet people and enjoy pubs and restaurants.

Part 3: Parallax - definition "the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions". November saw England back in lockdown but the experience now being confused and the rules contorted.

Part 4: Prism - throughout Lockdown 3.0 beginning Jan 2021, we have been working on a fourth section looking at energy and freedom. PUBLISHED 29TH MARCH 2021 - WATCH BELOW.

It is a well known fact that The Arts is one of the industries most effected by the pandemic with closures of theatres across the country. At Nova Grace Productions, we are passionate about supporting our artists in the UK and joining the effort to adapt to life online. All our rehearsals have all taken place over Zoom and have been self-funded, providing the opportunity for both choreographer and dancers to keep creating, using dance as the language to express more than words can say. In this time of global crisis, we believe that this is paramount, now more than ever. #SaveTheArts

As well as supporting artists, we are aware of our contribution to the wider world and support communities in other places. We were delighted that a total of £300 was donated to Kerry West Orphanage Project in Uganda, East Africa through ticket sales from this performance. Thank you for to all those who showed interest in supporting the global community.

For Schools:

This piece forms the basis for our schools workshops under the same name. For KS2 and above, students are invited to take part in creating their own versions of this piece as well as see it performed live in their school by our professional dancers. Get children talking about their lockdown experiences and help them process it as well as opportunity to integrate back into the school. Participation in dance and moving to the same beat has also been proved to provide vital social connections which need to be nurtured after so much time in isolation.
